Logo / Stationary / Website / Menu / Ad Campaign Design
Background: Smitty’s Market is a traditional Texas barbeque restaurant in Lockhart, Texas. It is a family owned business that has been around in the same location for more than fifty years. Smitty’s is very traditional in the way they do things and are often praised for smoked meats; all comes “directly from the pitmaster” and is “served on butcher paper” amid “hallowed smoky brick walls”, where the strict “no sauce, no plates, no forks” policy is alive and well. They have been doing things the way that they have been doing for so long that it has become second nature to the locals.
Logo Concept: The complete rebrand starts off with the logo that brings in elements of what the restaurant is famous for (their spicy sausages) with a modern spin with the badge style logo and stacked typography.
Stationary System Concept: The stationary system features the use of the wood grain texture to bring in the concept of what Smitty's Market is all about: their meat and how they smoke them.
Menu Concept: The menus are meant to be printed on butcher’s paper because that is how the food has been served at Smitty’s for half a century. In addition, Smitty’s Market usually has long lines so the menus would also serve as a tool that the customers could utilize while waiting in line.
Website Concept: With the website, I wanted to give the viewers a glimpse into their traditions and history with the use of vintage photography, but in a modern and simple to navigate way.
Advertising Campaign: The concept for this is solely based on the fact that Smitty's Market is extremely famous, so a huge line is not uncommon, and they run out of food early often. So, you literally have to get to Smitty's early to get some food. To illustrate that concept, an image of grease stains in the shapes of a pig's and cow's head were used to demonstrate the messiness of the food and gives the viewers a sense of urgency, to actually make them hurry up before the food is gone.

Background: Skeptical Inquirer is a bimonthly magazine published by the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, or the CSI, with the subtitle: “The Magazine for science and reason.“ CSI’s mission statement is to “encourage the critical investigation of paranormal and fringe-science claims from a responsible, scientific point of view and disseminate factual information about the results of such inquiries to the scientific community and the public.” The contents of the magazines includes critical evaluations of all manner of controversial and extraordinary claims, including but not limited to paranormal and fringe-science matters, and informed discussion of all relevant issues.
Concept: This particular issue is focused on everything Bigfoot, in all its forms: Yeti, Abominable Snowman, Sasquatch, etc.. All the visual elements were done with vector illustrations to appeal more to the types of readers this magazine attract. With the concept being that conspiracy theories are things that people don't really know if they are real or not, and that is what you really see is actually there?

Background: Coffee is a brewed beverage with a strong flavor prepared from the roasted seeds of the coffee plant. The beans are found in coffee “cherries”, which grow on trees cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in equatorial Latin America, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Africa. Green (un-roasted) coffee is one of the most traded agricultural commodities in the world. Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans due to its caffeine content. It is one of the most-consumed beverages in the world.
Concept: This concept utilizes illustrated vector graphics in cooperation with typography and the step form to inform people about all things coffee. The step form is used to emphasize the importance of each of the sections with the most important information being the biggest section on the right. In addition, the trees on the steps are supposed to symbolize the way that some coffee beans are grown and harvested.

Bizaare Poster Design
Background: The word Songkran is from a Sanskrit word that is defined as “Astrological Passage“ or “a move or change in the position of the sun from Aries to Taurus”. It is Thailand’s longest and most important holiday. It marks a New Year for Thais and is usually celebrated from April 13 to 15. To foreigners it might sound like a bizarre kind of festival; with people running around town shooting each other with super-soakers. But it goes deeper than that. The Songkran festival is more than just a water fight festival. Based on tradition, Songkran is about family and religious worship. The water symbolizes the spring cleaning and the washing away of bad luck aspect of Songkran.
Concept: With that in mind, the combination of the hand drawn traditional Thai dancer and uses of the water color brings in a nice, refreshing feeling that really captures both the traditional religious side and the funner water fighting aspects of the holiday.
Theater Poster Design
Background: Detroit ‘67 is a play written by Dominique Morisseau. It is a period piece that takes place in 1967 Detroit, Michigan. In a time plagued with racial tensions, violence, and the Vietnam war, Detroit 67’ is a story about Chelle and her brother Lank trying to make ends meet by turning their basement into an after-hours joint, or a speakeasy/blind pig. But when a mysterious white woman finds her way into their lives, the siblings clash over much more than the family business. As their pent-up feelings erupt, so does their city, and they find themselves caught in the middle of the ’67 riots.
Concept: The concept for the poster is based on the fact that throughout the play the characters would complain about the record player always skipping, and with the introduction of the mysterious white woman that brings nothing but trouble, this poster encapsulates the play with that combination in one image that makes the mysterious woman the literal skip in their lives.

The largest collection also makes the Air and Spaces Museum the most visited museum in the country, and one of the most visited museum in the world. Their mission is to commemorate the past and their commitment to educating and inspiring people to foster appreciation for the importance of flight to humanity.
Concept: This poster is done in a halftone style and bright colors to help bring in and inspire the younger kids to be more interested in human flight. The image shown is the before and after of the Discovery space shuttle launch. Pull the tab and the shuttle takes off. This poster could also be printed smaller and be used as invitations for big events like galas and fundraisers.

BugFest includes many activities and attractions ranging from arts and crafts for the children, educational science displays, to actually getting to try some dishes featuring insects as the main ingredient at Cafe Insecta.
Concept: The concept for the posters and brochure came from the fact ladybugs are surprisingly important to the well being of not on your backyard garden but also the world. They were illustrated using the flat vector style and depicted as warriors working together protecting your garden from the other pesty bugs. The brochure utilizes the octavo fold and doubles as a small takeaway poster on the back after you unfold the brochure.
